Lincoln businesses prep for surge in customers on eve of Volleyball Day in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Wednesday’s Volleyball Day in Nebraska will host more than 90,000 fans in Memorial Stadium, and businesses are gearing up for an influx of customers.

It’s going to be a busy few days in Lincoln.

In addition to volleyball day, there’s a Zach Byran concert at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Tuesday night, and bars will be busy on Thursday for the Husker football away game.

Chase Contreras, a Lincoln employee for Budweiser, said he was making 20 stops on Tuesday, and every bar is stocking up with extra alcohol.

“Because of the concert, we’ve had extra stops on what we would normally have like later in the week, but we’re having to do them today,” he said.

Staff at restaurants are also preparing for the rise in customers, with a server at Buzzard Billy’s saying she picked up an extra shift this week to help with the rush.

“I’m even over 40 hours,” Madeline said. “I picked up a shift so we can be fully staffed when we get slammed today and tomorrow.”
