Lincoln children munch on apples for multi-state Crunch–Off competition

Students from Lincoln Public Schools participated in the multi–state ‘Crunch Off’ today.
The Crunch–Off competition had students from nine states bite into an apple, or other crunchy fruits and vegetables, at the same time during lunch.
U.S.. representative Jeff Fortenberry took part in the event with students at Clinton Elementary School. It promotes healthy eating and teaches kids where their food comes from.
“This particular program farm to school program, it feeds kids, it teaches kids, it inspires kids,” said Fortenberry.
Lincoln Public Schools spends more than one million dollars on local products. Some include apples, cantaloupe, and cucumbers from Nebraska farms.
