Lincoln Children’s Museum’s ideas for improvements approved

“We’re very excited to get started and to see as the plans keep unfolding, we’ll make sure to be letting the community know and let everyone know whats happening and excited to see where this takes us,” said Executive Director, Tara Knuth.

The Lincoln Children’s Museum’s ideas for expansion have been approved. They include an outdoor space along with a science center.

They don’t want to get really specific yet but the planned outdoor space would be in the location that now serves as a parking lot east of the museum.

“I am most excited about the opportunities that this has for the museum, to be able to offer something that we have not been able to do before, to be able to expand what the downtown area has as far as offering that outdoor space for children,” said Knuth.

The first step was to get the approval for the idea of expanding. The second step is to figure out the cost and where they stand on funding.

Knuth says when people drive by the museum, they don’t see all of the cool and interactive things they have inside. She says the outdoor space will hopefully bring more people in.

“Having that be prominent on P street will really help people that are visiting Lincoln or driving through downtown to know whats going on and get kids excited and families excited about visiting us,” said Knuth.

The outdoor space also has the potential to be very versatile. The area could be used for reservations or to simply move events outside.
