Lincoln Christian football coach reveals positive update on wife’s cancer
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Christian football’s head coach says his wife is now in remission from brain cancer.
Kurt Earl said he was on the football field at practice when he received a call from his wife, Da’Nelle Earl, and her oncologist.
He remembers the feeling after hearing that his wife was cancer-free.
“I was just in such shock,” Earl said.
Earl said the community’s support has been vital in his wife’s fight against cancer, especially during the Battle for the Sword game against Lincoln Lutheran, where fans wore T-shirts with a Bible passage on it.
“To have such an incredible group of young men and families that are a part of the football program and the greater school community just love and support us has been something that I wish everyone could experience,” Earl said. “Even if they have to go through the challenges that we’ve gone through to experience it.”
Da’Nelle Earl was in attendance Friday as the Lincoln Crusaders played at Chadron in the first round of the playoffs.
Lincoln Christian lost 42-18, but the team still has reason to celebrate.
“I’m overwhelmed by how special it’s been,” Kurt Earl said.
