Lincoln church holds interfaith prayer service for peace in Ukraine

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — St. Joseph Catholic Church opened its doors to the community Friday night for a prayer service for Ukraine.

“Tonight is also an opportunity to have some solidarity with our brothers and sisters from Ukraine, and especially those who are part of the Eastern Rite of the Ukrainian Catholic Church,” said the Rev. Daniel Rayer, chancellor of the Diocese of Lincoln.

About 250 people attended the event, which was part of an international day of prayer for peace.

Everyone was invited, regardless of religion, to join Bishop James Conley and the Rev. Ivan Krotec in prayer.

“We are absolutely touched by what American people are doing,” said Krotec, priest at the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Lincoln.
