Lincoln churches collecting donations for annual Operation Christmas Child project
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- Samaritan’s Purse is hosting its annual Operation Christmas Child project at churches in Lincoln.
The organization collects shoeboxes filled with items, such as toys and school supplies, and sends them to children across the world.
Churches began accepting donations on Monday. People can donate until Nov. 20.
Volunteer Susan Thomsen said this donation drive can have a worldwide impact on children in need.
“Some of these children live in extreme poverty, not all, but they were often times victims of abuse and sex trafficking, parents were alcoholics, were drug users,” Thomsen said. “That’s why these gifts are particularly meaningful for children in those scenarios.”
Thomsen also said this is a way for volunteers to share gifts and their faith with children in need.
You can find shoebox drop-off locations and times on the Samartian’s Purse website. Four Lincoln churches are participating in Operation Christmas Child.
