Lincoln City Council candidate accused of electioneering at polling place

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man running for Lincoln City Council was ticketed Tuesday after electioneering at a polling place, police say.

Aurang Zeb, 56, entered Pound Middle School, a designated polling place for the city election, and took a video of himself saying, “Vote for me, vote for Zeb.”

The polling place’s election commission inspector called police after seeing Zeb take the video, which was posted on the candidate’s Facebook page.

On Friday, police said Zeb was cited and released on suspicion of electioneering, a misdemeanor.

Zeb received just over 8,000 votes in the general election.
