Lincoln City Council will vote on two more fire trucks

Lincoln City Council will be voting on two key issues tomorrow afternoon.
For several weeks, council members have debated if revenue from the quarter cent sales should go to buy two more fire trucks for Lincoln fire and rescue.
The city’s budget already approved the purchase of nine new trucks to replace old and outdated trucks and the two additional units would go to stations currently being built.
"If we don’t have new apparatus put in there, we’re going to have to take this older apparatus that’s already struggling to service the current city and we’re going to try to stretch the use even thinner by adding two more units out there," said Chief Micheal Despain.
Without the two additional trucks, Chief Michael Despain says the department will be forced to use two reserve units for the new stations.
The city only has three reserve trucks, which could be a huge problem if a large fire occurs.
