Lincoln East team loses American Legion World Series championship

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln East’s American Legion baseball team fell to League City, Texas, 1-0 on Tuesday night in the American Legion World Series championship.
Carpet Land pitcher Carter Mick walked League City’s Kyeler Thompson on the first at-bat in Shelby, Alabama.
On the next play, Thompson advanced to second on a throwing error, then to third on a failed pickoff attempt.
League City’s Chase Bourgeois then grounded out to second base, and Thompson ran home.
Ultimately, that was the only run needed to win the game.
Despite outhitting League City, Carpet Land couldn’t get any runners to home plate.
On the mound, Mick struck out five and finished with a 1.29 ERA.
