Lincoln families enjoy visiting local zoo before new school year begins

For Lincoln families, it’s the beginning of the final weekend before school is in session.

Many people were outside enjoying the nice weather today.

For many, the place to be was the Lincoln Children’s Zoo located off of 27th and A street.

It was one last opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and do something fun before the school year comes calling.

Officials with the Lincoln Children’s Zoo say the week before school starts is traditionally one of the busiest weeks of the year.

The zoo is still open from 10am to 5pm during the school year.

A lot of moms, dads, grandparents and other relatives found the time to enjoy the fresh air and treat the kids to a memorable day.

The 10-acre-zoo receives close to 200,000 visitors each year.

The staff says they are always looking to put a smile on a child’s face.

If you haven’t been yet, it’s not too late to go if you haven’t already.

The zoo will remain open until mid–October, you can find a link to the zoo’s website here: www.lincolnzoo.org.
