Lincoln fifth graders taken out to the ballgame for LPS Saltdogs Day
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Public Schools fifth graders went on a field trip to Haymarket Park on Monday, continuing a decade-long tradition.
The Lincoln Saltdogs hosted thousands of students for LPS Saltdogs Day as they took on Fargo-Moorhead.
Along with watching the game, many students had responsibilities before and during the game.
Some sang the national anthem, while others served as junior announcers and team managers.
This outing allows students to apply what they are learning in math, science, reading, writing, social studies and physical education.
It’s also a great way for them to learn more about their community.
Even though the Saltdogs fell short in their series opener against the Redhawks, spirits were high, and the students enjoyed a fun-filled day at the ballpark.
