Lincoln Fire and Rescue responds to north Lincoln house fire

A family of four was forced to evacuate during a house fire that occurred early evening on Friday

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – LFR responded to a fire near 5830 NW 4th Street around 3:45 p.m. on Friday.

Officials say there were reports of smoke in a hallway of the home, and that a fire had started on the second floor near a laundry unit closet. Four occupants were evacuated from the home, including two adults and two children. There were also two cats in the home. One has been rescued, and as of 5 p.m. crews were locating the second animal. First responders said the cat inside is alive. They’re just working on getting it out.

All four occupants will be relocated. No one was injured or hurt, and the house is not a total loss. Officials are still investigating what caused the fire.
