LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Fire & Rescue has added some new wheels to its fleet.

In a press release, LFR announced its new $1.08 million ladder truck, which went into service Thursday.

The truck replaces an older engine that was purchased in 2010, the city said.

LFR’s new ride features increased cargo space, improved maneuverability, an air purification system and a 105-foot ladder.

“With the new Truck 1 replacement, all LFR ladder vehicles now have the same 105’ capability,” said Eric Jones, LFR’s logistics division chief, in the release.

Truck 1 was paid for by federal COVID relief funds allocated to the City of Lincoln, officials said.

Since 2018, the department has added 18 new vehicles to its fleet.
