Lincoln fire station introduces new vehicle to fight grass fires
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Fire & Rescue’s Station 10 unveiled a new multipurpose vehicle to its fleet, calling it Brush 10.
This is an effort for LFR to rely less on outside sources when fighting fires, especially grass fires.
Brush 10 is specifically designed to access off-road and snow- and water-covered sites.
This vehicle, which cost a little more than $20,000, was paid for by money from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.
Capt. Shane Cuttlers said “safety was a priority” when considering the addition of this truck.
The truck has the ability to release foam and water from the front hose, while firefighters remain in the front cabin of the truck.
Brush 10 will be in commission for use before the end of August, and all LFR personnel will be trained for its use.
LFR plans to use it both in the city and in rural areas.
