Lincoln flu activity highest in the nation, according to index

According to the Walgreen’s Flu Index, Lincoln is tops when it comes to flu activity in the nation.

The index shows areas with the highest incidence of the flu by using prescription data for antiviral medication to treat the virus.

Lincoln and the Kearney and Hastings areas are the highest in activity with Omaha coming in at number four.

So far this year, there have been 31 flu-related deaths.

If you haven’t got your flu shot, health officials say there’s still time.

According to the CDC the vaccine is 51 percent effective.
