Grand Island, NE –

City Officials identified the 5-year-old Lincoln girl who died at Island Oasis, a waterpark in Grand Island, Saturday. Officials say five- year old Nubari Koffree of Lincoln died in a wave pool, it was not operating at the time.

Hall County Attorney says the preliminary autopsy reports show drowning as the cause of death.

According to the Grand Island Fire Department, crews were dispatched to the Island Oasis around 4:00 p.m. and found a little girl unresponsive in the wave pool.

She was taken to CHI Saint Francis Medical Center.

Shortly after, a woman spending the day at the park said it was a very scary scene.

"As a mother of four children who, my oldest and second oldest look practically the same age as her and my oldest actually interacted with this child an hour before, this incident it's heartbreaking. I mean to hear that mother's cry just breaks your heart. I mean, I can't get her cry out of my head," said Tabitha Scott.

Sunday, during a press conference, Grand Island city officials announced the child had died. They said the park was not at full capacity when the incident happened.

City officials asked for prayers for the child's family and water park staff.

The incident remains under review, and city leaders say more information will come from the county attorney's office as they investigate the death.

The waterpark was open and running for normal hours Sunday.
