Lincoln Grand Cinema rolling out the red carpet for film fans ahead of Oscars

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Marcus Theatres is rolling out the red carpet for local movie fans, giving them a taste of Hollywood with a full day of films.

On Saturday and Sunday, Lincoln Grand Cinema is showing the Best Picture Oscar nominees along with both animated and live-action shorts.

General Manager, Lisa Fryda, told Channel 8 it’s a great way to bring the community together.

“Friends and families come out and watch movies all day long,” she said. “They’re able to get lunch and dinner, they’re even able to go into our Take 5 lounge. It brings the whole community together over a day of just watching all of the movies that are up for nominations.”

Some of the films being shown at the theatre include Anora, The Brutalist, Wicked, A Complete Unknown and many more.

Fryda said the theatre has been hosting this event for awhile now, with many familiar faces attending each year.

“It’s wonderful. We’ve been doing it for several years,” she said. “You just see a group of amazing individuals that come out and they enjoy the whole day. It’s amazing to see people that come and watch five different movies. You get to enjoy them all at once and see the different artistic values in the films.”

One of the moviegoers, Lezlee Williams, said she is very thankful for this event.

“Some of us come every year and it’s such a great time,” she said. “We all bring our fuzzy socks and blankets and camp out in the theater all day long. And it’s fun cause I don’t know peoples names but I know their faces and we see them year after year. It’s been a really difficult week with some unexpected medical news, so today couldn’t come at a better time to have twelve hours of great escape.”

You can watch the Oscars Sunday at 6 p.m. on Channel 8.
