Lincoln gym hosts race for employee fighting cancer

You have an opportunity to get active and give back to a woman fighting breast cancer this weekend.

Loree Havlat, a long-time employee at Goodlife Fitness was diagnosed with breast cancer 9-weeks ago.

“Took us all by surprise, she’s so young and healthy,” Steve Auxier, owner of the gym said.

To help with medical bills, Goodlife Fitness is hosting a 5K fundraiser Saturday, September 22.

They’ve already raised thousands, Auxier said.

“It’s incredible so neat can come together and help a person in need at this time, it’s incredible, it’s humbling,” he said.

The race starts at 10:00 a.m. at the Goodlife Fitness at 3rd and Van Dorn.

It costs $25 to register, that includes a t-shirt and 100% percent of the money goes to the Havlat family.

Children 12 and under can register for free.

You can register at the event, or at both Goodlife Fitness locations.

Participants are invited to eat lunch at Blue Blood Brewery after the race. They’ll donate a portion of your meal’s proceeds to the Havlat family, as well as $1 for every beer they sell Saturday.
