Lincoln health department offering second COVID-19 booster at clinics

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department announced two large-scale vaccination clinics that will offer the second COVID-19 booster dose.
The clinics will be held at Pinnacle Bank Arena on April 26 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on April 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently approved an additional Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 booster dose for those ages 50 and older and those ages 12 and over with weakened immune systems.
“The BA.2 variant is becoming more common across the nation and in Nebraska, and we don’t yet know whether this variant could cause a small uptick or a larger surge,” Health Director Pat Lopez said. “Having a high level of immunity against the virus in our community helps us be better prepared if there are future outbreaks.”
Appointments can be scheduled at COVID19.lincoln.ne.gov. Walk-ins are also welcome, the health department said.
LLCHD will also be offering second booster doses by appointment only at its COVID-19 vaccination clinics at 3131 O St.
