Lincoln Libraries starts 87th summer reading challenge

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln City Libraries’ 87th summer reading challenge began Friday.
You can register either online or at any public library, and the challenge runs through July 31.
“I think it’s really important for kids to participate in the summer reading challenge,” said Ali Bousquet, a Lincoln librarian. “Just to keep their brains active over the summer and to keep reading.”
Every kid who registers gets a free ticket to a Saltdogs baseball game, a single-entry pass to any city pool, and a discount for “Tarzan” at the Pinewood Bowl Theater.
All you have to do to complete the challenge is log 10 reading hours, do a couple of activities and visit the library.
Those who finish can enter drawings for $100 prize packages to area businesses and earn discounts and coupons for free items.
All challenge participants will be entered in a drawing for three separate grand prizes worth $250 each for performances of the winner’s choice at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.
