Lincoln Lyft driver kidnapped passenger, court docs say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lyft driver in Lincoln is accused of holding a passenger against her will and soliciting her for sex.
Yoleisy Rondon, 52, was charged Wednesday with first-degree false imprisonment.
Court documents say a 52-year-old woman requested a Lyft ride late on Christmas Eve.
She and Rondon were using Google Translate to communicate, police said.
The woman wanted to be taken from the area of 27th and W streets to the People’s City Mission at First and Q streets.
But the Lincoln Police Department said Rondon stopped before the mission and asked the woman to come to his home.
The woman said no, but Rondon took her to an apartment complex near 40th Street and Nebraska Parkway, according to an arrest affidavit.
The victim said she did not want to be there, and Rondon started driving to the north side of town, police said.
The woman asked him to stop at a hotel, but according to the affidavit, Rondon instead said he was taking her to get alcohol.
When she tried to get out of the vehicle, police said the driver reached back and grabbed her.
Eventually, the woman escaped near 24th and Superior streets, according to court documents.
Police said they used Lyft records and Rondon’s cellphone data to identify him as the driver.
They also found Google Translate conversations in which he asked the woman for sexual favors, according to the affidavit.
Court documents say in one message, the woman said, “I said don’t grab me and could you drop me off at that motel?”
Rondon was arrested Tuesday. On Thursday, he paid $2,000 to be released from jail.
