Lincoln man accused of two construction thefts in less than 24 hours
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was arrested Monday in connection with two construction thefts.
Andrew Ferrell, 36, is charged with burglary, theft and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Court documents allege that on Sept. 2, Ferrell stole multiple items from a construction site near Southwest 32nd and West O streets.
Police said security footage captured Ferrell making multiple trips to the construction site and loading up items in his car.
About 1:30 a.m. the next day, Ferrell went to a construction company about a mile away near South Coddington Avenue and West O, according to an arrest affidavit.
He found a key in a box outside the building and unlocked the door, the affidavit says.
Ferrell then stole two sets of vehicle keys and drove off in the business’s 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, police said.
There was a large water tank and numerous tools in the bed of the pickup. Police estimated the total value of the stolen items at $55,000.
Officers said they found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Ferrell’s car.
On Tuesday, a judge set Ferrell’s bond at $15,000.
His next court appearance is set for Oct. 3.
