Lincoln man arrested after 130 mph chase with Nebraska State Patrol
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol arrested a Lincoln man early Friday morning after a pursuit with troopers reached 130 mph.
At 1:15 a.m., a trooper saw a Mercedes sedan driving 89 mph on Interstate 80 between North Platte and Gothenburg.
The trooper tried to pull over the car, but the driver refused to stop and accelerated to speeds well over 100 mph, according to the state patrol.
Officials said the driver fled west on I-80 at 130 mph, but troopers were able to slow the car with stop sticks just outside of North Platte.
The driver then exited I-80 and started driving west on Highway 30 through North Platte before coming to a stop at the Lincoln Highway RV Park.
According to the state patrol, the driver started running, but a trooper shocked him with a Taser and arrested him.
The driver was identified as 46-year-old Joseph Solie.
He was arrested on suspicion of flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous traffic violations.
Solie was lodged in the Lincoln County Jail.
