Lincoln man arrested after shooting pepper ball gun at truck near Raymond, sheriff says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Road rage caused one Lincoln man to shoot a pepper gun at another driver Wednesday morning near Raymond, Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner said.

Just after 11:30 a.m., a 47-year-old man slowed his truck down because a van was following too closely on Nebraska Highway 79 in northern Lancaster County.

Wagner said the men exchanged “hand signals” before the van passed the truck on the two-lane highway.

As 55-year-old Alan Moore passed the truck, he pulled out a pepper ball gun and shot through the passenger window.

Afterward, the victim called the police and told them that his truck had been shot at.  He continued to follow Moore, and they eventually passed by Raymond High School.

Believing that Moore had a gun, deputies put the school under lockdown, Wagner said.

Eventually, deputies stopped Moore near Highway 79 and Raymond Road.

Inside the vehicle, deputies found a pepper ball gun with one of its two chambers empty, Wagner said.

Moore was arrested on suspicion of terroristic threats.
