Lincoln man arrested after spending spree with counterfeit bills
Lincoln Police say Austin Barrett, 27, used $1,730 at 10 different locations across the city.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested after using counterfeit bills to make purchases at 10 different locations around Lincoln, according to LPD.
Austin Barrett, 27, made his purchases between Feb. 13 and Feb. 23, Lincoln Police say. He would use the counterfeit bills to buy cheap items and would obtain real money as change.
Barrett also purchased several gift cards, according to Lincoln Police. Through 10 transactions, Barrett used $1,730 worth of counterfeit bills.
Lincoln Police say investigators used security footage to identify Barrett.
Officers arrested Barrett at his home on Feb. 25 on suspicion of 1st-degree forgery.
