Lincoln man arrested after threatening to cut people, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – On Thursday, Lincoln Police were dispatched to the U-Stop near 10th Street and Lincoln Mall because a man was threatening to cut people in the parking lot and in the store.
Alan D. Varela, 45, was found to have a 5-inch blade and was placed into custody, police say.
Varela was taken to jail where he was lodged on suspicion of terroristic threats, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.
Police believe Varela was intoxicated at the time of his arrest.
