Lincoln man arrested in connection to Branched Oak homicide

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in connection to the shooting at the Branched Oak Recreation Area on Tuesday that left 42-year-old Benjamin Case dead.

At about 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, deputies arrested 22-year-old Taban Rik of Lincoln.

Rik was taken into custody without incident in the parking lot of Nguyen Vapes on O Street, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Rik is being charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, and terroristic threats.

The investigation is ongoing. The Sheriff’s Office asks that anyone with information contact the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at 402-441-6500.
