Lincoln man arrested on multiple warrants after being found passed out in vehicle

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln man was arrested in Milford on Wednesday after giving deputies a fake name when he was found passed out in his vehicle, the Seward County Sheriff’s Office said.
While deputies were checking on an unconscious man in his vehicle, they found a controlled substance on the passenger seat.
The man gave deputies a fake name once he was awake. A deputy believed the man was having a medical episode and allowed him to get his medicine from the vehicle.
At that time, he ran away.
The man was identified as Daniel P. Vanwey, 36, of Lincoln after deputies found his ID during a search of the vehicle. Drugs and paraphernalia were also found.
Law enforcement searched the area for five hours before finding Vanwey.
Many parents in Milford said the public schools “locked down right away” to keep students safe while law enforcement was in the area.
Vanwey was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, false reporting, three Lancaster County warrants and an out-of-state warrant.
Law enforcement officers from the Nebraska State Patrol, Seward Volunteer Fire Department and Milford Police Department assisted in the search.
