Lincoln man charged in sexual assault of a 15-year-old; police say he lied about his age

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was arrested Wednesday after police say he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl.

Luis Gonzalez, 24, was arraigned in court on Thursday and faces a felony charge of first-degree sexual assault.

A judge set his bond at $500,000. He would need to pay 10% to be released.

On March 21, the victim and her parents were interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center in Lincoln.

During the interview, the victim said she and Gonzalez had sex on three separate occasions throughout that month, according to an affidavit.

The victim’s mother said she told Gonzalez that her daughter was 15. She also told officers that Gonzalez claimed he was 17 and went to school with her daughter.

Also during the interview, the victim’s father showed officers text messages between him and Gonzalez.

In the messages — which were initiated by Gonzalez — the suspect claimed that the victim said she was 18 years old when they met.

According to the affidavit, Gonzalez told the father he would have never done what he did if he knew her actual age.

Gonzalez’s next court date is set for Aug. 12.
