The crash happened about 10:30 p.m. Saturday at 27th and O streets.

Court documents say Jones was headed east on O and accelerated quickly as the light at 27th turned green.

His tires spun out, and an arrest affidavit says Jones started to lose control, with the vehicle drifting from side to side.

The pickup truck swerved between lanes and then crossed the median, hitting a Ford Mustang head-on.

The driver of the Mustang was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A passenger in the pickup suffered minor injuries.

Police said Jones had six shots of alcohol earlier that night.

His blood alcohol content level was .135%, but he has not been charged with DUI.
