Lincoln man cited after gunfire leaves bullet holes in child’s bedroom

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Police cited a Lincoln man after a mom found two bullet holes in her child’s room.

Lincoln Police said officers were called to an apartment near Briarwood Avenue and 31st Street on Thursday evening.

A 29-year-old woman told police that she heard a loud noise the night before and thought something fell over in her apartment.

The next morning, the woman found two bullet holes in the ceiling of her child’s bedroom.

Police aren’t sure if the bedroom was occupied when the shots were fired.

Officers spoke with the woman’s upstairs neighbor and found that he’d negligently discharged a rifle in the apartment.

Police seized a .556-caliber rifle and cited the man for discharge of a firearm within the city.
