Lincoln man convicted after being found with over 1,000 images of child porn

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln man is facing two decades of prison time after he was convicted on a child porn charge Wednesday.
John Wade Burton, 66, was convicted of possessing child pornography and faces a prison sentence of up to 20 years, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Friday.
Burton’s sentencing is scheduled for May 15.
In 2020, the Federal Bureau of Investigation got a tip that a computer with an IP address in Lincoln had accessed a child pornography website twice.
On Nov. 17, agents served a warrant at Burton’s home and seized several computers, hard drives and thumb drives.
In total, authorities found “well over” 1,000 images and videos of child pornography, the attorney’s office said.
Burton was previously convicted in Missouri for sexually assaulting a child younger than 14.
He was released from prison in 2018, according to the attorney’s office.
