Lincoln man fatally shot at Texas apartment complex, police say

Authorities said a Lincoln man was fatally shot Monday morning at an apartment complex in Texas.

According to ABC affiliate KSAT, San Antonio police officers arrived at a West Side apartment complex and found 22-year-old Justin Laravie II dead inside a home with a gunshot wound to his head. Another victim, who was taken to a San Antonio hospital in critical condition, was found outside with a gunshot wound to his back, according to police.

KSAT reported homicide detectives gathered information about the suspect through witness statements, and arrested Brandon Guzman, 20, Tuesday. Guzman is charged with murder and aggravated assault. Police said the shooting was likely drug related.

Laravie II had just celebrated his 22nd birthday on June 25, according to a GoFundMe organized by a woman name Mariah Russell, who says she is Laravie’s sister.

“He touched so so many hearts and had so many people that cared for him,” Russell wrote on the GoFundMe page. “Thank you to those who have reached out to my family with condolences, pictures, and stories of Justin.”

Russell says on the page that Laravie II was “funny, loving, and had the biggest heart with many friends to standby that.” She said the family is asking for donations to bring him home to Lincoln and give him a proper burial.
