LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man will spend two decades in prison for a fentanyl overdose.

Robert Harris, 57, was sentenced Monday in federal court for distribution of fentanyl resulting in serious bodily injury and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin.

U.S. District Judge John Gerrard gave him a 20-year prison term on each count. He will serve both at the same time.

On Feb. 14, Harris and a woman snorted heroin powder at his apartment, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

But the powder contained fentanyl, authorities said, and the woman later passed out at a nearby convenience store.

First responders gave her Narcan, which likely saved her life, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

After the overdose, Harris went home and finished off the powder. But authorities said he ordered more from the same source the next day.

Those drugs later tested positive for fentanyl, meth, cocaine and heroin.

The victim’s urine also tested positive for fentanyl, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

After prison, Harris will spend five years on supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
