LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was sentenced Thursday for writing two bad checks to buy exotic animals.

Madison County District Judge James Kube also sentenced him to 90 days in jail, but White was given credit for 183 days already served.

In November, White wrote a $6,350 check at a livestock auction in Norfolk.
He went home with two kangaroos, an alpaca and a donkey. Court documents say he sells animals for a living.
The check bounced because the account was closed, so White wrote another check.
But that check was also returned because the account was frozen.

Court documents said the auction operator gave White several more opportunities to pay, but he never did.
White was arrested in March, and he pleaded guilty in July.
