Lincoln man held without bond in child sexual assault case

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man appeared in court Tuesday on a charge of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl.
A judge ordered that 46-year-old Joshua Hamilton be held without bond.
He is charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child with a prior sexual offense.
Court documents say Hamilton assaulted a girl at least four times in late 2022 and early 2023.
The assaults happened at Hamilton’s home near 27th Street and Capitol Parkway, according to an arrest affidavit.
Police said the victim reported the abuse in March 2023 during an investigation into the death of her infant sibling.
Court documents say multiple children were staying at Hamilton’s home and would sometimes be left alone with him.
That violated the conditions of his parole for a 2008 conviction of third-degree sexual assault of a child.
An arrest warrant was issued for Hamilton last week, and he was booked into the Lancaster County Jail on Monday.
Hamilton is due back in court on April 8.
