Lincoln man in jail after assaulting police officer

Lincoln, NE– A Lincoln man is in jail after assaulting an officer late Thursday night.  An officer pulled over 28 year old Travis J. Nyhoff near 16th and B streets for a traffic stop. 

When Nyhoff pulled over, he got out of his vehicle and began running away from the police officer.  The police officer pursued Nyhoff for a short distance, after which he was taken into custody.  Nyhoff then punched the officer. 

Upon inspection of Nyhoff and his vehicle, the police officer found methamphetamine.  Nyhoff was lodged for assault of an officer and possession of a controlled substance.
