Lincoln man pleads not guilty to abusing baby

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to abusing a 2-month-old baby.
Robert Herbert, 35, was arraigned in Lancaster County District Court on a charge of intentional child abuse resulting in injury.
In March, Herbert forced water up a baby’s nose to clear her congestion, according to court documents.
Police said she choked and turned blue.

The girl was taken to a hospital, where doctors found that she also had a skull fracture, seven broken ribs and several bruises.
The skull fracture happened when Herbert hit the baby with a car seat “out of frustration,” an arrest affidavit alleges.
And while trying to help her defecate, Herbert squeezed the girl’s arms and legs together so hard that “his arms were shaking,” the affidavit says.
