Lincoln man remembers his brother who died in a crash

On Wednesday, Jared’s family and friends celebrated his life at Lakeview United Methodist Church as they laid him to rest.

Hours after the funeral, Jacob King, Jared’s younger brother, sat down at Channel 8 to tell us the type of man Jared was.

“He could be real down on his luck, you know, nothing’s going his way and he just wanted people to feel loved and feel like he cared because he did,” Jacob King said.

King said so many people attended the funeral that some people had to stand in the back, and some even had to stand outside.

King was at work when his grandpa called him to tell him that Jared didn’t make it.

“My face just kind of went numb, you know, I didn’t know what to think or how to feel,” King said.

King said he and Jared had kind of grown apart, but he was always a protective older brother.

Now, King just wants to keep Jared’s memories alive.

“That’s what we do… tell his story, and make sure he’s not forgotten,” King said.
