Lincoln man sentenced after guns he bought were used in crimes

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln man was sentenced Monday for being a drug user in possession of a firearm.
Clifton Davis Jr. got 16 months in prison with a three-year term of supervised release.
Davis, 23, caught the attention of law enforcement after three guns he bought were used by others to commit crimes, including a homicide and a domestic assault.
Investigators got a search warrant for Davis’ home and cellphone in June 2023.
Officers found a 5.56 mm handgun, 153 rounds of ammunition for three different types of guns, and a box for an additional weapon.
Law enforcement also found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his house and car.
Davis admitted to being a marijuana user, and officers found messages on his phone about buying and selling drugs.
Some of the conversations occurred within days of Davis buying the firearms.
