LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was arrested this week in connection with a fatal fentanyl overdose.

Michel Mikaya, 33, was arrested Monday and charged with distribution of an exceptionally hazardous drug.

In August, police said he sold a 27-year-old man a bag of pills labeled “M30.” M30 is an oxycodone pill.

The man died days later, after taking at least one of the pills, according to court documents.

The remaining six pills were tested, and authorities determined that they were fentanyl — not oxycodone.

Phone records show multiple phone calls between the 27-year-old and Mikaya, according to an arrest affidavit.

Police said Mikaya told a confidential informant that he sold the pills that caused the man’s death.

When he was arrested in the overdose, Mikaya was already in the Lancaster County Jail on an unrelated misdemeanor charge.

On Tuesday, a judge set his bond in the fentanyl case at $750,000. He must pay $75,000 to be released from jail.

Mikaya’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 16.
