Lincoln man will spend year in jail for posing as teen to sexually assault 13-year-old

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was sentenced Tuesday for posing as a teenager to have sex with a 13-year-old girl.

Jauson Schriner, 22, got two years in jail for third-degree sexual assault of a child, with credit for about a year of time served.

Boone County District Court Judge Rachel Daugherty also sentenced Schriner to 18 months of post-release supervision.

In December 2023, Schriner and the teen, who had met while her family was visiting Lincoln, connected on Snapchat.

Court documents say Schriner claimed to be 16 and said he had been kicked out of his mom’s house.

The girl’s mother agreed to let Schriner stay at the family’s Boone County home.

Within days of his arrival, Schriner was asking the 13-year-old to be his girlfriend, according to an arrest affidavit.

He began pressuring her to have sex, authorities said, and ended up sexually assaulting here 12 to 15 times over the course of a week and a half.

But the girl became suspicious after some of Schriner’s behavior “didn’t make sense,” the affidavit says.

She looked through his phone and found messages to other girls in which claimed to be several different ages.

While Schriner was staying at the house, the victim baked him a cake for his “17th birthday.”

But she discovered a text from his mother wishing him a happy 21st birthday.

Schriner was initially facing first-degree sexual assault, but that charge was reduced under a plea deal.

He will be required to register as a sex offender.
