LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man is voicing concern over crosswalk safety, saying drivers in Lincoln are more careless than ever.

Mark Newman has a disability, and walking is his main mode of transportation.

But he said lately, he’s noticed that drivers are less aware of people crossing the streets.

Newman said he’s been in crosswalks where cars don’t slow down for him.

Recently, he said he was almost hit by a driver who didn’t stop quickly enough at a stop sign.

Newman reminded pedestrians to be cautious.

And he also had a message for drivers: “Pay attention to the sidewalks. Make sure you look both ways; don’t just look one direction and stop.”
