Lincoln moving company battles inflation during busiest season of the year

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The weight of inflation across the nation is being felt, and even in peak season for movers, companies aren’t exempt from rising gas costs.
Two Men and a Truck’s operations manager Yantsy Clafalin says increased diesel prices are taking away profits.
“In 2021, we spent just over $30,000 on fuel prices. This first couple of quarters here, it’s almost 260, so nearly a 50% increase,” Clafalin said. “Our total, our total profits for fuel usually look at about 3% however, we spend 5% of our profit, so we’re actually taking a 2% loss there on fuel.”
Clafalin says despite increased diesel costs, they won’t raise prices for customers.
“We don’t foresee us having to increase our rates. Right now, however, we do have to monitor fuel prices and fluctuate that as necessary,” Clafalin said.
Despite inflated gas prices across the nation, Clafalin says they’re taking pride in hiring and keeping employees in such a difficult time.
“Retention has been huge, it’s been a big turnaround here in Lincoln and we take a lot of pride in that,” he said. “We want guys to stick around once they get the job. Make it you know, make it feel like everybody’s appreciated.”
