Lincoln non-profit asking for help after service dog is injured

Uplifting Paws, a Lincoln based non–profit who helps train therapy and service dogs is asking for your help.

Hamilton was a in training with the organization and was just weeks away from getting placed when he slipped on ice tearing his CCL. A CCL is the dog version of an ACL.

The two-year-old dog is now facing a very expensive surgery and will no longer be able to be a service dog.

“We had to pull him from service work, he is available for adoption right now and we will be paying for an expensive major surgery for him before he gets adopted out,” Elizabeth Higley, the founder of Uplifting Paws, said.

The surgery is expected to cost over $3,000 and the non-profit is hoping to have it performed soon to improve Hamilton’s quality of life.

If you would like to help Uplifting Paws with Hamilton’s mounting medical bills there is a fundraiser set up which you can access by clicking here.

Hamilton will be available for adoption once the surgery is performed and he has recovered.
