Lincoln nonprofit expands campus in Bold Hope Expansion project
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach is adding two new buildings to meet the community’s growing needs.
The nonprofit organization expects thousands of people to visit their new buildings full of household items and food.
Both expansions are a part of the nonprofit’s Bold Hope Expansion project.
“It’s not just about stuff,” Director of Development Lori Wellman said. “It’s about somebody having that hope and dignity back in their life.”
Matt Talbot is also preparing to open the doors of its new Choice Pantry.
“They have the dignity and the pride of being able to go in and pick out the things that they need for their home,” Wellman said. “In lots of cases, they’ve never been able to do that before, and now they have an opportunity to do that.”
Before this expansion, the Matt Talbot staff chose items for guests, but now guests can pick out the items themselves.
“We want people to go in and pick out the things that they want, the same as I want to go to the grocery store and pick out what I want, we want our guests to be able to do that too,” Wellman said.
An open house is scheduled on Thursday to celebrate the expansion.
