Lincoln officials close several city services amid winter storm

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Some city services were closed on Thursday due to a winter storm impacting southeast Nebraska.
The City of Lincoln announced the following closures:
- Aging Partners – All Aging Partners Senior Centers in Lincoln and Lancaster County are closed.
- Lincoln City Libraries – All Lincoln City Libraries are closed. The Writers Write program at Bennett Martin Public Library is rescheduled to March 23. The Lied Bookmobile is not in service. All due items checked out from the bookmobile will be renewed. Customers are welcome to keep their items until the next scheduled visit.
- Parks and Recreation – All recreation centers are closed. Programs that adhere to the Lincoln Public Schools Thursday cancellations include Calvert Preschool, Nature Center Preschool and Adaptive Recreation Adult Day Structure.
- Animal Control – Until further notice, Animal Control will respond only to emergency and high-priority calls.
- StarTran – StarTran bus service is suspended on routes 22, 24 and 25 due to UNL’s weather-related closure. Some routes are delayed 15 minutes. StarTran reminds residents to dress appropriately for outdoor conditions, wait 8 feet back from the bus stop and street to avoid snow spray, and plan for potential route delays throughout the storm.
