Officials on Monday afternoon provided new details about Lincoln’s latest COVID-19 cases.

Six of the 13 cases announced Monday are community spread and four are travel-related. The other three are still being investigated.

The people range in age from their 20s to their 70s.

One of the people has been hospitalized, said Pat Lopez, Interim Director of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department. Officials were still investigating whether a second person had also been hospitalized.

Officials said people should assume there is a risk of exposure anytime they are in a public space.

Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said residents should use face masks in addition to practicing social distancing and other hygiene techniques (such as washing your hands and covering your cough).

Gaylor Baird called upon local businesses and manufacturers to, if possible, shift production to making personal protective equipment.

“We need to use every tool in our toolbox to fight this aggressive virus,” she said.
