Lincoln organization provides Thanksgiving meals for families in need

Lincoln’s low income families are receiving a free Thanksgiving meal this weekend. The Center for People in Need transformed its space to be a one stop shop for turkey, fresh veggies, fruits, and other holiday staples Saturday morning.

The event ensures that even those who struggle the most can partake in the holiday with a table of healthy food.

“We serve low income families so we know that this time of year it can be difficult for some families to be able to go out to the store and just buy the supplies that they need to feed their families so its a way for us to be able to help supply that we can make it kind of a Thanksgiving as special as we could possibly make it,” Deputy Director at Center for People in Need, Steve Sheridan said.

The Center has two days left, handing out food on both Saturday November 23rd and Sunday November 24th.

Various other community organizations will be on-hand to provide information about their services, and an immunization clinic will be available to on Saturday and Monday to provide free flu shots.

Families must be clients of the Center to participate in the event. For more information on how to get or update a Center card, please call 402-476-4357 or visit their website.
