Lincoln organizations team up to host a car show for a good cause

A local church is doing their part to give back to the community, while still having fun.

Horizons Community Church has teamed up with Nebraska Automotive Events and State Farm to host their first annual “Show and Shine” car show.

The show was inspired by church member John Synovec. He says his childhood and his father is what caused him to take the lead on the show, which benefits Zeman Elementary School and the Lincoln Food bank.

“I’ve been on the other end of things when I was younger, I had a rough patch for a while. But I got through that and now I am able, in the situation where I can do something for more than just myself. . . Everything we do here will benefit the kids and the families in that school, and of course the Lincoln food bank.”

The event was complete with Kona Ice, Teeny Weeny Wiener Wagon, and the Tastee Trailer food trucks, as well as music from 105.3.

Over 50 cars were shown off with pride at the event, and some cars even available for a joyride around the parking lot.

The excitement and success of the first annual car show has team members already gearing up for next year.

“I couldn’t ask for a better turn out for the first annual. it’s going to get bigger and bigger every year,” Synovec says.
